Proverbs 24:16 – The Righteous and The Wicked Fall Down

Proverbs 24:16Let’s read King Solomon’s words in Proverbs 24:16 as written in the New Living Translation.

“The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.”

If there is one thing God doesn’t guarantee in this life, it’s that believers will have an easy time of it. With the statistic of small business failures in the first two years rumored to be at about 95%, there’s a good chance the entrepreneur trying to do business by the Bible might be tripped up a time or two – or seven according to Proverbs. But is this a reason to give up?

Heck no!

Who knows what glorious success might await you on attempt number eight? The trick is to have faith that God is on your side or, perhaps more accurately phrased, that you are on his, and it’s just a matter of time until you break through with your business. On the other hand, 24:16 tells us that the wicked are liable to be brought down completely by a disastrous fall.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned in this life, it’s that the worst rarely happens. Yes, tell that to the passengers on the Titanic or Hindenberg, or to the World Trade Center employees who showed up for work on September 11. Good points but the exceptions don’t disprove the rule. If Solomon wrote it, we tend to believe it’s pretty good advice. Don’t dwell upon your failures but, rather, rise and get ready to give it another go.

Pay no mind to the wicked sitting on the side of the road whining about his single fall. You may both have skinned knees but you’re one step closer to success while he’s through trying.

Predicting Inflation for 2011

JasonHartman.comThe general price level in 2010 relative to 2009 shows average price levels that are nearly flat. The reason for this trend is significant commodity price increases in 2007 and 2008 that collapsed after the global financial crisis. Much of the reason for the price volatility in commodities is leveraged buying and selling through hedge funds that drove prices up during the bubble and precipitated a price crash after the bubble collapsed as many entities were simultaneously deleveraging their positions. To demonstrate this phenomenon, we have graphed the Consumer Price Index for Urban residents (CPI-U), Producer Price Index for Finished Goods (PPI-FG) and Producer Price Index for All Commodities (PPI-AC) from 1995 up to the present time.

Bible Business Not A Soulless, Rapacious Endeavor

Bible investingIt only seems appropriate, in light of Oliver Stone’s recent release of the sequel to his 1980’s smash hit Wall Street, that we take a short detour into the twin theories that “Greed is good,” and “Nice guys finish last.” While the Wall Street raider character, Gordon Gekko – played by Michael Douglas – would have you believe that a complete lack of morals and ethics is the only way to truly get ahead in business, we at Solomon Success are not drinking that Kool-Aid.
